What Goes Under the Turf
A long-lasting South Florida install is built in layers. The base matters as much as the turf, especially for drainage in rainy season.
- Artificial turfRolled out, seamed and secured at the edges.
- InfillAbout 1 to 2 lbs per square foot for most landscape turf. It weighs the turf down and keeps blades standing.
- 3" to 4" compacted baseClass II road base, graded and compacted so water drains and the surface stays flat.
- Weed barrierOptional fabric layer to stop weeds from coming up through the base.
- Existing soilExcavated and leveled before the base goes in.
